Academic Freedom – The state of a fundamental value for Europe (29.11.2023, online/offline)

On 29 November 2023 the European Parliament will host a high-level event on Academic Freedom – The state of a fundamental value for Europe.

The event will feature a series of keynote addresses, panel discussions, and break-out sessions. Participants will explore the challenges and opportunities facing academic freedom in Europe today, and discuss how the European Union can best protect and promote this vital right.

Key speakers include:

  • Roberta METSOLA, President of the European Parliament
  • Iliana IVANOVA, EU Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth
  • Sabine DÖRING, State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Germany

When? 29.11.2023 14:00 (CET)
Where? The Library Reading Room (SPINELLI 5 D) of the European Parliament in Brussels. It will also be webstreamed live.
The event is open to the public, but registration is required for attending physically.
